Resident Assistants at Holland Home play a vital role in delivering compassionate, high-quality care in a skilled nursing and long-term care environment. The Resident Assistant provides direct, hands-on support to residents by assisting with activities of daily living and promoting comfort, safety, and emotional well-being. Working closely with nursing staff and the interdisciplinary care team, the Resident Assistant helps create a respectful, supportive environment that enhances each resident’s quality of life.
Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, transferring, and feeding
- Provide emotional support, companionship, and reassurance to residents
- Monitor and report changes in residents’ physical, cognitive, or emotional condition
- Encourage independence while ensuring resident safety and dignity
- Maintain a clean, safe, and supportive living environment
- Respond promptly to resident call lights and requests
- Collaborate with nursing staff and interdisciplinary team members to support coordinated, high-quality care
Qualifications
- Prior experience in resident care or a healthcare setting preferred
- Memory care experience strongly preferred
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
- Strong communication and observation skills
- Compassionate, dependable, and team-oriented
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods of time
