About the role
The Resident Assistant plays a crucial role in providing comprehensive support to residents and patients in a healthcare setting. Their responsibilities include carrying out a daily plan of care, assisting with meals, medication reminders, and monitoring residents' health status.
Responsibilities
- Care and Customer Management: 80%
- Carries out daily plan of care including basic daily living and personal care needs.
- Serves and assists residents with meals.
- Provides medication reminders to residents as permitted under Ohio law.
- Knows location of assigned residents within the community at all times.
- Listens and responds to the needs of residents and staff members.
- Maintains records through computers and documentation.
- Informs Charge Nurse of supply and equipment needs.
- Shares opinions and observations of departmental operations with Charge Nurse.
- Attends all-employee and departmental meetings and in-service training as scheduled or as directed.
- Administration and Reporting: 15%
- Maintains current and accurate records through use of computers and/or other documentation.
- Informs Charge Nurse of supply and equipment needs.
- Willingly and consistently shares opinions and observations of departmental operations with Charge Nurse.
- Attends all-employee and departmental meetings and in-service training as scheduled or as directed.
- Operations Management: 5%
- Completes routine light housekeeping and laundry tasks for the unit.
- Reports any hazardous conditions to the Charge Nurse.
- Fulfills infection control and standard precaution policies.
- Follows established fire and safety policies.
- Practices good body mechanics.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience in a long-term care or other related healthcare setting preferred.
Requirements
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
- Subject to working weekends, evenings, and holidays as scheduled.
- May be exposed to various conditions, including infectious waste, disease, and exposure to the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses.
- Subject to risk category for exposure to bloodborne diseases - I.
