Primary Responsibilities
- Provides quality care and assistance to residents in accordance with the community philosophy, policies and resident rights.
- Observes residents within patient care policy guidelines and immediately report any conditions requiring attention to the Care Coordinator.
- Affords residents with their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.
- Adheres to each resident’s individual service plan, notify the clinical director and care coordinator of any changes in the resident’s condition.
- Ambulates and transfers residents as needed utilizing appropriate assistive devices and body mechanics.
- Affords residents with their activities of daily living.
- Launder residents’ personal clothes, sheets, and towels according to schedule.
- Launder household items according to schedule.
- Interacts with residents to ensure that quality care and positive resident/staff relations are taking place.
- Completes daily assignments and reports problems to supervisors.
- Fulfills duties as assigned by your supervisor.
Communications
- Attends all regular staff meetings and required training sessions.
- Effectively communicates information pertaining to the residents on a “need to know” basis to other team members according to the community policies and procedures.
- Notifies your supervisor or the clinical director if you observe a change in a resident’s condition.
- Maintains a positive and professional manner toward residents, visitors, families and co-workers.
- Adheres to all policies and procedures of Ohio Living.
Requirements
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) in good standing on the Ohio Department of Health Nurse Aide Registry preferred.
- Experience: One year of experience working with seniors with memory loss preferred and desire to serve and care for seniors required. Experience in a long-term care or other related healthcare setting preferred.
- Other Requirements: Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
Physical Job Requirements
- To fulfill job requirements, employee must be able to perform key physical tasks for extended periods of time.
- When supporting, lifting or transferring residents, proper body mechanics and safety measures as prescribed by the residence must be used.
- In a typical eight-hour day, employee will stand/walk up to 8 hours a day, sit up to 2 hours a day, frequently support up to 70 pounds, occasionally lift/carry up to 50 pounds, and frequently kneel, bend, and reach.
