About the role
Join our team as a Resident Advocate and help provide support, safety, and encouragement to those we serve. This dynamic position combines client engagement, building oversight, and administrative support to ensure daily operations run smoothly.
Responsibilities
- Greet and direct clients, document client interactions, and provide information and updates to shift staff.
- Interact with clients over course of shift as appropriate.
- Provide support and basic resource information to clients.
- Maintain building/client common areas by conducting periodic inspections and logging events/incidents.
- Create reports, routine computer input, and update HRR area with appropriate resource information as directed.
- Generate and obtain urinalysis from clients as directed.
- Attend all mandatory CCC trainings in a timely manner.
- Adhere to Central City Concern’s drug-free workplace policies and comply with state and federal privacy and security regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic knowledge of chemical dependency, addictions, and mental health issues.
- Experience or familiarity using computers for basic functions.
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, squat, twist, reach, pull, lift heavy objects, and climb stairs.
- Pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
- Must not be on probation or parole.
- Must adhere to agency’s non-discrimination policies.

Skills and Abilities
- Ability to consider the impacts and outcomes for underserved communities during decision-making process.
- Relevant or adequate knowledge of CCC health services and area resources.
- Basic knowledge of community and social agencies, and self-help groups.
- Sufficient manual dexterity and physical ability to perform assigned tasks.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work and maintain professional composure in an environment where people may be verbally hostile.
- Ability to manage time and meet deadlines.
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Detailed oriented; ability to maintain accurate records and necessary paperwork.
- Ability to learn and apply training instruction.
- Knowledge of de-escalation methods or ability to be trained in de-escalation methods.
- Ability to interact respectfully and effectively communicate with clients, co-workers, corrections personnel, police, merchants, the public at large, and supervisor.
- Ability to provide advocacy, as appropriate.
- Professional maintenance of appropriate boundaries.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted during the course of work.
