Position Summary

Provide oversight to shelter guests and complete necessary paperwork, attend to the immediate needs of the guests, and encourage a safe and harmonious shelter atmosphere.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Aid in menu planning.
  • Serve as supervisor of common areas, dorms, lounges, clothing closet, and laundry room.
  • De-escalate conflicts and manage crises as necessary, demonstrating excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Conduct daily resident/security checks on guests, rooms, and exterior of the building.
  • Engage in general office duties such as answering the phone, filing, typing, record keeping, and recording shift summaries.
  • Attend all trainings and staff meetings as directed.
  • Participate in cleaning and janitorial work, including laundry as needed.
  • Clear dryer vents of dust and lint.
  • Assist with deep cleaning tasks, including the kitchen, dining room, office, and laundry room.
  • In the absence of a cook, perform kitchen duties.
  • Stay on duty until a replacement arrives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma / GED, or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Current valid driver’s license and successful completion of the Salvation Army Motor Vehicle Record check (MVR).
  • Completion of Safe From Harm training, and maintaining current certification as needed.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

  • Maintain client confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365.
  • Knowledge of TEAMS and SharePoint.
