Position Summary
Provide oversight to shelter guests and complete necessary paperwork, attend to the immediate needs of the guests, and encourage a safe and harmonious shelter atmosphere.
Essential Responsibilities
- Aid in menu planning.
- Serve as supervisor of common areas, dorms, lounges, clothing closet, and laundry room.
- De-escalate conflicts and manage crises as necessary, demonstrating excellent verbal and written communication.
- Conduct daily resident/security checks on guests, rooms, and exterior of the building.
- Engage in general office duties such as answering the phone, filing, typing, record keeping, and recording shift summaries.
- Attend all trainings and staff meetings as directed.
- Participate in cleaning and janitorial work, including laundry as needed.
- Clear dryer vents of dust and lint.
- Assist with deep cleaning tasks, including the kitchen, dining room, office, and laundry room.
- In the absence of a cook, perform kitchen duties.
- Stay on duty until a replacement arrives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma / GED, or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Current valid driver’s license and successful completion of the Salvation Army Motor Vehicle Record check (MVR).
- Completion of Safe From Harm training, and maintaining current certification as needed.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
- Maintain client confidentiality.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365.
- Knowledge of TEAMS and SharePoint.
