About the role
The Residence Life Coordinator is a twelve-month position at the West Burlington campus. This position is responsible for coordinating, facilitating, and supervising all operations of the Southeastern Community College Residence Halls. The coordinator also oversees and facilitates housing deposits/contracts, facility safety, security, and behavioral policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Provide information and service to students seeking to live in SCC student housing.
- Work collaboratively with marketing and enrollment services to create and facilitate the distribution of promotional and communication materials for prospective housing students.
- Designate room assignments for all new and returning resident students and communicate said information in a timely manner.
- Provide tours of residential facilities to prospective students.
- Update and maintain residence life website pages.
- Care for paperwork and processes related to residential facilities (i.e. student reservation forms and contracts, check-in and check-out forms, disciplinary reports, etc.).
- Work with current food service vendor regarding the accounts and services provided to residents of student housing, athletics and other students participating in meal plan options offered at SCC.
- Perform data entry of all charges for housing, meal plans, and residence life disciplinary fines.
- Afford assistance to the SCC Business Office with follow-up of resident student accounts until all are paid in full.
- Keep current on all college residential policies and procedures.
- Manage residence hall facilities to ensure student compliance with said policies.
- Work cooperatively with SCC Maintenance Department to schedule timely cleanings and maintenance of student rooms and general residential facilities.
- Work closely with the college security staff to ensure an understanding of the scope of the security function and to provide a safe environment for all residents.
- Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate community advisors and resident hall assistants.
- Meet regularly with residence life staff and security staff to resolve student issues and concerns and to coordinate residence hall programming.
- Work with residence hall staff/students to design, coordinate, and facilitate regular programs/activities to support the personal social, physical, and intellectual development of all resident students.
- Develop and maintain a current inventory of all residence hall furniture/equipment.
- Develop and maintain records and reports regarding student occupancy, furniture/equipment inventory, disciplinary actions, and other data as assigned.
Qualifications
- Education: Associate’s Degree required. Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Experience: Supervision of college housing or community living setting preferred. Student services, student activities, and/or athletics within a community college setting preferred. Self-motivated, dependable, energetic and creative individual with leadership, supervisory, planning, fund-raising, and public relations skills. Strong human relations and interpersonal oral & written communication skills to interact positively with diverse personalities and populations. Must be a self-starter with a competitive spirit and desire to excel. Knowledge of computer software applications specifically Microsoft Office programs; ability to learn and develop competency in SCC’s administrative software (Ellucian).
- Physical Demands: Handle confidential matters with discretion and perform with a high level of personal and professional integrity, honesty, and ethics is required. Comprehend and abide by NJCAA, ICCAC, and SCC policies, guidelines, and procedures as well as Title IX, the Clery Act, ADA, FERPA, the Stop Campus Hazing Act, and other applicable laws and regulations. Must have a valid driver’s license.
Benefits
- Annual salary of $40,000.00.
- Benefits include medical, dental and vision insurance, $50,000 life insurance, long-term disability, paid sick leave, paid vacation, paid spring and holiday breaks and participation in IPERS or TIAA retirement plan.
Pay
- $40,000.00 annually.
Schedule
- Monday – Friday.
- General responsibilities include being on call. Weekend duties are arranged and shared with WB Resident Advisors (RA’s).
