Duties/Responsibilities
- Supervise Resident Assistant team to include the communication of expectations, administer accountability measures, and provide on-going professional development
- Conduct meetings on an as needed basis with community student leaders to guide necessary professional, social, and personal development
- Advises a community council
- Review cases of student misconduct and determine fair consequences at the discretion of the Dean of Students office
- Attend meetings as assigned to include weekly staff meetings and bi-weekly departmental meetings
- Participate (as directed) in occupancy management for an area of responsibility to include room assignment changes
- Manage an area programming budget, and execute the procurement of necessary materials
- Facilitate the work of a departmental committee as assigned
- Organize and communicate charges for residents for lockouts, damages, and related needs
- Monitor area key check-in and check-out processes through regular key audits
- Document relevant interactions with students through case management software
- Review daily communication logs and follow up with concerns as needed
- Execute the department community development model through the support of active and passive programming opportunities
- Communicate relevant information to residents
- Refer students to campus resources as needed
- Execute move-in procedures at the beginning of each semester and move-out procedures at the end of each semester
- Collaborate with maintenance and custodial staff to ensure appropriate upkeep of facility
- Participate in a 24 hour on-call rotation with other Residence Directors
- Respond to emergency/crisis situations in area of responsibility during normal business hours and after hours as needed
- Collaborate with dean of Students to implement wellness checks
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and years of experience
- 1-3 years of full-time verifiable experience working at an institution of higher education
- Must have knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with Google Suite is required
- Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Must possess a valid driver's license
- Master's degree in Student Affairs Administration or a similar field is preferred
- 1-3 years experience in a traditional, on-campus, Housing and Residence Life department is desired
- Experience with Adirondack Solutions Software is preferred
- Knowledge of Banner is desired
- Experience with Maxient is preferred
