About the role
Berkshire Hathaway Homestate Companies, Workers Compensation Division, seeks a Reserving Actuary to join its Actuarial team. This individual will manage loss and loss adjustment expense reserves, provide data for external financial reports, and conduct research into key loss reserve factors.
Responsibilities
- Manages and directs the reserving team, ensuring timely completion of recurring assignments.
- Turns data into actionable insights for organizational decisions.
- Presents findings to Senior Leadership using data visuals.
- Selects actuarial assumptions and methods based on available data.
- Maintains analytical standards and procedures, including peer reviews.
- Maintains awareness of legislative and regulatory activities.
- Incorporates benefit and rate changes into actuarial analyses.
- Engages with and represents the company at industry professional organizations and rating committees.
- Prepares and presents ad-hoc research and reporting.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Risk Management, Data Science, or related field.
- Minimum of seven (7) years of relevant FCAS experience in the insurance industry.
- Experience with Willis Towers Watson ResQ preferred.
- Sound data analytical skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Familiarity with workers compensation standards and best practices.
