About the role
Berkshire Hathaway Homestate Companies, Workers Compensation Division, is seeking a Reserving Actuary to join its Actuarial team. The Reserving Actuary will manage and direct the work of the reserving team, providing critical insights to the Finance Department for external financial reporting and presenting findings to Senior Leadership.
Responsibilities
- Manages and directs the work of the reserving team (Actuaries, Analysts).
- Turns data into critical information and knowledge for organizational decisions.
- Presents findings to Senior Leadership.
- Selects actuarial assumptions and methods based on all available data.
- Develops and maintains analytical standards and procedures.
- Maintains awareness of legislative and regulatory activities.
- Incorporates the effects of benefit and rate changes into actuarial analyses.
- Engages with and participates in industry professional organizations and rating committees.
- Prepares and presents ad-hoc research and reporting.
Qualifications
- Minimum of seven (7) years of relevant FCAS experience with insurance industry concepts and applications.
- Experience working with Willis Towers Watson ResQ preferred.
- Sound data analytical skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
- Knowledge of workers compensation standards and best practices preferred.
