About the role
The Spinal Cord and Brain Injury Research Center (SCoBIRC) at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine is seeking applicants for a tenure-track faculty position in neurotrauma research. Postdoctoral fellows and early-career investigators are encouraged to apply. While extramural funding is not required at the time of appointment, prior success with training or foundation awards (e.g., F30, F31, F32, AHA) is desirable.
The Center is particularly interested in candidates whose research focuses on Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) or Spinal Cord Injury (SCI), including mechanistic or translational research in areas such as:
- Managing personal injury recovery
- Metabolism
- Autonomic systems
- Glia and inflammation
- Neural repair, plasticity, or regeneration
- Chronic recovery or post-traumatic epilepsy
Responsibilities
- Develop and sustain an externally funded research program
- Complement and enhance SCoBIRC’s strengths in neurotrauma
- Supervise students, postdocs, or research staff as applicable
- Collaborate within a highly supportive and translational research environment
Qualifications
- Required: Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent doctoral degree
- Preferred: Experience with foundation or training awards (e.g., F30, F31, F32, AHA)
- No prior extramural funding required for appointment
