Researcher - Spinal Cord & Brain Injury Faculty
Open rank: Assistant, Associate, or Professor. The Spinal Cord and Brain Injury Research Center (SCoBIRC) at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine is seeking applicants for a tenure-track faculty position in neurotrauma research.
About the role
The position focuses on neurotrauma research, particularly in traumatic brain injury (TBI) or spinal cord injury (SCI). The Center is interested in candidates whose research includes mechanistic or translational work in areas such as:
- Metabolism
- Autonomic systems
- Glia and inflammation
- Neural repair, plasticity, or regeneration
- Chronic recovery or post-traumatic epilepsy
Postdoctoral fellows and early-career investigators are encouraged to apply. While extramural funding is not required at the time of appointment, prior success with training or foundation awards (e.g., F30, F31, F32, AHA) is desirable.
Responsibilities
- Develop and sustain an externally funded research program
- Complement and enhance SCoBIRC’s strengths in neurotrauma
- Supervise students, postdocs, or research staff as applicable
- Collaborate within a highly supportive and translational research environment
Qualifications
- Required: Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent doctoral degree
- Preferred: Experience with foundation or training awards (e.g., F30, F31, F32, AHA)
No prior extramural funding is required for appointment.
