RESEARCHER LEAD
Position Summary
The University of Alabama at Birmingham, Med - Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism, is seeking an experienced and skilled Researcher Lead to join their team.
General Responsibilities
This emerging leader role involves spearheading major research projects, leading a team of researchers, and aligning research activities with organizational objectives. Key duties include strategic planning, project management, mentoring junior researchers, fostering a collaborative environment, and representing the research team at national and international forums.
Key Duties & Responsibilities

Conducts research using advanced chromatography techniques such as HPLC, GCMS, IRMS, and LC-MS/MS to support research grants.

Develops and works up lab assays in collaboration with the Principal Investigator and lab manager to ensure successful grant proposals.

Oversees laboratory projects, manages daily operations, collects, enters, summarizes, analyzes, and interprets research data.

Maintains monitoring of results, identifies unusual outcomes, and provides data to the Principal Investigator.

Collaborates in the clinical research setting to support grant proposals and assist in grant applications.

Supervises laboratory equipment and supplies, directs others, and teaches advanced lab practices.
Qualifications

Master's degree in a related field and one (1) year of related experience OR Bachelor's degree in related field and three (3) years of related experience OR Associate's degree in related field and five (5) years of related experience required.

High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) experience is strongly preferred.

Gas Chromatography - Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometry (GC- IRMS) proficiency is strongly preferred.

Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometry (GCMS) experience is strongly preferred.

Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometry (IRMS) experience is strongly preferred.

Liquid Chromatography Tandem Mass Spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) experience is strongly preferred.
Salary Range
$52,555 - $85,400
