Description

IMDEA Energy is opening a Research Assistant position in the Thermochemical Processes Unit (TCPU) to work on the TODENZE (OPENING THE PATHWAY TOWARDS DENDRITIC ZEOLITES) project. This ERC Advanced Grant H2020-EU focuses on the development of dendritic zeolites and their use as catalysts for biomass valorisation, and as nanocarriers for combined drug and gene therapies.

Tasks

  • Revision of the state of the art of the fundamentals of zeolite and mesoporous silicon-based materials synthesis.
  • Synthesis and characterization of zeolites from a green chemistry perspective.
  • Synthesis and characterization of heterogeneous multifunctional catalysts for fine chemistry reactions.
  • Performance of hydrocarbon adsorption tests.
  • Adjustment of the reaction system, screening the activity of catalysts and optimization of the operational conditions.
  • Processing results and writing of reports.

Requirements

  • B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering, applied chemistry or equivalent, finished in the last 4 years.
  • Not holding a Doctorate degree.
  • To value:
    • Knowledge and experimental practice on heterogeneous catalysis, either the synthesis of catalysts (preferable based on zeolites) or on running reactions (preferably batch reactors systems).
    • Knowledge and experimental practice on analytical techniques typically applied in catalysts characterization (XRD, gas physisorption, etc.) and/or analysis of chemical products (GC, GC-MS, etc.).
  • Oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Holding or pursuing a M.Sc. in Applied Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or equivalent.

    • Knowledge of English.
    • Motivation for accomplishing high-quality research.

    Conditions

    • Remuneration: Between 19.000€ – 21.000€ per year, depending upon qualification and expertise.
    • The contract includes all the benefits of the Spanish Public Health and Social Security System.
