Researcher 3-Medical Oncology

AnalystFull-time

Researcher responsible for performing experiments and managing projects in a clinical/translational lung cancer research lab. Planned projects are translationally important from a clinical perspective and will employ cutting-edge laboratory and analytical techniques.

About the role

This role will focus on tumor signaling and interactions with the immune microenvironment in lung tumors that have loss of the LKB1 tumor suppressor. Goals include gaining mechanistic insight into why these tumors are resistant to immunotherapy treatments and identifying/testing candidate pathways that could enhance immune sensitivity.

Using in vitro (tumor cell lines and a T-cell co-culture system) and in vivo model systems (murine cell lines from an LKB1-deficient GEMM for immunocompetent allograft experiments, as well as the GEMM model itself), the researcher will test hypotheses on pathways responsible for immune resistance.

Conduct high-throughput experiments with functional genomics screens (e.g., CRISPRi-based screens), proteomics, phosphoproteomics, and single-cell RNAseq to dissect mechanisms underlying these effects. Results will strengthen conclusions from hypothesis-based mechanistic studies and generate novel insights.

Preclinical work will integrate with analyses of existing multi-omic data and access to clinical trial specimens or OSU clinical cohorts to test ideas in specimens from lung cancer patients.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Biological Sciences or relevant field, or equivalent experience required.
  • 5 years of relevant experience required with a Bachelor’s Degree, or 3 years of relevant experience required with a Master’s Degree.
  • Background in cancer biology and/or immunology is a plus.

About the employer
