About the role

This position involves handling and recording human biological samples from clinical studies, into and out of a biobank, for downstream analyses. Samples are tracked using a digital barcode system and a laboratory information management system (LIMS).

Responsibilities

  • Assists with research studies, experiments, and assays, including data collection, solution preparation, and equipment setup and maintenance.
  • Handles sample intake from local and external clinics, performs data entry, manages sample storage (both physical and LIMS), and conducts quality control techniques and instrumentation use.
  • Retrieves samples from the biobank and processes them for downstream applications/analyses.
  • Ensures compliance with safety procedures and maintains proper documentation on laboratory and specimen conditions.
  • Maintains lab conditions and equipment according to established procedures.
  • Participates in general lab maintenance and cleaning.
  • Attends scientific seminars and assists with scientific reviews and presentations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

This position works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards. The individual must be physically capable of wearing protective equipment and providing standard care to research animals.

Education

Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Up to one year of experience in a laboratory setting. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel formulas and a clinical LIMS.
