Research Technician I/II - Spector Lab

Position Description

Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, a world-renowned research laboratory on Long Island in New York, is seeking an experienced, highly motivated, dedicated, and detail-oriented individual as a Research Technician to join the Spector lab. The individual will work in a state-of-the-art laboratory studying the role of long non-coding RNAs in cancer and differentiation.

Position Responsibilities

• Supporting laboratory operations and resource management for a team of 6 scientists including ordering supplies and monitoring grant expenditures.

Position Requirements

Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Biology or a related discipline is required for (level I requirement). Bachelor's Degree in Science and 2 years’ practical experience working in a lab after completion of their degree (level II requirement)

Skills/Experience

• Experience in mammalian cell culture, molecular cloning methods, PCR, qPCR, electroporation, running nucleic acid and protein gels.
• Knowledge in the preparation of RNA samples, and RNA-seq libraries is a plus.
