Summary
The position involves assisting scientists and technicians in performing laboratory research and procedures. Specific duties may include assisting with experiments, collecting and recording data, maintaining laboratory equipment, and participating in meetings.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Aid in the performance of laboratory research and procedures by performing various experimental techniques and operating scientific equipment.
- Collect, record, organize, and verify data; perform calculations and prepare reports.
- Order laboratory supplies and maintain insects, plants, animals, and cultures for experimental purposes.
- Participate in laboratory meetings and planning sessions.
- Stay current in research area through literature.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in an appropriate field or equivalent combination of education and related work experience.
- Some related laboratory experience preferred.
Skills And Abilities
- Experience with job duties and principles associated with them.
- Ability to draft reports and keep accurate records.
- Ability to learn complex tasks with general instruction.
- Ability to perform a variety of new techniques.
Physical Requirements
- Remaining in a normal seated or standing position for extended periods.
- Reaching and grasping by extending hand(s) or arm(s).
- Dexterity to manipulate objects, such as using a keyboard.
- Communication skills using the spoken word.
- Ability to see and hear within normal parameters.
- Ability to move about workspace.
- Mobility to move materials weighing up to several pounds.
- Exposure to malodorous vapors, low dose radiation, contamination by toxic chemicals and acids, and presence of carcinogenic substances.
Compensation And Benefits
- Salary range: $17.08 (minimum) - $21.35 (midpoint) - $27.76 (maximum).
