Research Technician I

About the role
The Technician I assists in conducting experiments and technical procedures, performs laboratory research activities, and makes and records observations and measurements.
Salary will be commensurate based on the selected hire’s education and experience. Location: Bryan, TX. Schedule: Full-Time.
Responsibilities
- Assists in conducting experiments and technical procedures.
- Performs laboratory research activities.
- Reviews literature relating to possible procedures and experiments.
- Modifies procedures to suit research needs.
- Assists with planning and may supervise technical operations.
- Assists personnel involved in controlled environment or analysis experiments.
- Assists in making chemical and physical analyses, requiring some ingenuity and improvisation.
- Uses computer equipment for controlling equipment and compiling data.
- Makes and records observations and measurements.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Two years of laboratory experience or related areas.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Biology, Neuroscience, or related field.
- Experience in research in neuroscience or related field.
- Experience in immunohistochemistry, microscopy, behavioral analysis in mice, tissue collection and processing from mice.
- Experience with electrophysiology techniques and stereotaxic surgery.
Skills
- Knowledge of laboratory equipment, scientific apparatus, and computer equipment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
