About the role

NLR's Advanced Building Equipment Research group has an opening for a research technician. This position supports hands-on research and development of building components and systems with a focus on new efficient and affordable technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Sets up computers and controls for experiments
  • Maintains and operates laboratory equipment
  • Assists in designing, fabricating, and conducting experiments
  • Maintains a safe operating environment
  • Supports field test work including limited travel

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and 7+ years of experience or equivalent relevant education
  • Extensive knowledge in specialized focused support functions
  • Strong research techniques and practices
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, project management, and customer relations skills
  • Ability to interpret schematics and construct apparatuses to match; to generate schematics and drawings representing an as-built system; and to clearly explain the function of components and the system design decisions
  • Computer literate including full fluency in Microsoft Office
  • Familiarity with and commitment to security, health, and safety (ES&H)

Qualifications

Pay

  • Research Technician IV: $66,400 - $109,600
  • Research Technician III: $57,900 - $95,500
  • Research Technician V: $76,600 - $126,400

Schedule

Regular full-time hours of 40 per week.
