Research Technician
About the role
The Research Technician position will provide operational support for agricultural research projects. Primary crops include peaches, blueberries, ornamentals, cotton, soybeans, and turfgrass. This position will provide knowledge and skills to support existing research programs through field work, tractor and other farm equipment operation, pesticide application, and cultural crop care.
Responsibilities
- Conduct field work activities in support of ongoing agricultural research projects.
- Operate tractors and other farm equipment safely and efficiently.
- Apply pesticides according to established protocols and safety guidelines.
- Provide cultural care for various crops.
- Affiliate with research scientists and other team members to achieve project objectives.
- Lift up to 50 lbs. on a routine basis, with or without reasonable accommodations.
Requirements
- Minimum Experience/Education: Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience in agriculture production and/or agricultural research. Ability to operate farm machinery. Ability to communicate in both oral and written form. Ability to read and follow pesticide labels and research protocols. Ability to collect and record data accurately.
- Required License or Certification: NC Pesticide Applicator License or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire. Valid driver’s license required. NC Driver’s License within 60 days of hire. NC Forklift Driver Certification or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire. Medical respirator certification or the ability to obtain within 12 months of hire. Valid NC Driver's License required. Yes Commercial Driver's License Required?
