Responsibilities
- Perform daily animal husbandry and monitor the health and welfare of laboratory mice.
- Afford assistance with mouse breeding, genotyping, weaning, identification, and colony record keeping.
- Execute routine laboratory techniques, including:
- DNA, RNA, and protein extraction and quantification
- PCR and gel electrophoresis
- Western blotting
- Preparation of laboratory buffers and reagents
- Basic mammalian cell culture (preferred)
- Maintain laboratory inventory and ensure adequate laboratory supplies.
- Prepare common laboratory solutions and reagents.
- Maintain accurate laboratory notebooks, electronic records, and experimental documentation.
- Follow established laboratory safety procedures and institutional animal care guidelines.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Sciences, Animal Science, or a closely related field.
- Experience: Experience handling laboratory animals or a willingness to learn, basic laboratory skills, including PCR, Western blotting, and preparation of laboratory reagents, strong organizational skills and attention to detail, ability to work independently while following established laboratory protocols, excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
