Job Summary/Essential Job Functions
This is a grant-funded position supporting research focused on lymphedema and integrating artificial intelligence in cancer care. The Research Technician 2 assists with manuscripts, study protocols, and other related project documents. They also handle regulatory paperwork, IRB applications, and study file preparation.
Responsibilities
- Affixes with faculty on the development and implementation of research projects.
- Supports operational components of research studies: executing and coordinating study visits and procedures, collecting study data, establishing and maintaining contact with study participants and families.
- Affixes with writing grant proposals and manuscript development.
- Affixes with abstracts and prepares presentations for scientific conferences.
- Performs clinical duties required for compliance with study-specific Investigator-Initiated protocols; performs study assessments if needed (lab draws, questionnaires, vital signs, blood processing, etc.) for Investigator-Initiated Studies.
- Identifies potential research candidates from medical center areas; schedules and communicates with investigators about patient eligibility for research.
- Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and collaborates with the ORS to maintain GSM quality assurance processes in the Department of Surgery.
- Maintains records of new protocols, amendments, and IRB activities/updates the regulatory binder as needed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree. Transcript required.
- Experience: Four (4) years of relevant work experience or a combination of college coursework and work experience.
- Knowledge: Knowledge of basic research principles and federal code of regulations for clinical research studies.
- Skills: Excellent organizational skills, ability to work efficiently and independently, ability to manage multiple priorities, knowledge of creating and maintaining extensive records on clinical research subjects.
Work Schedule
This position may occasionally be required to work weekends and evenings. May require occasional overnight travel.
