About the role
The Emory Vaccine Center within the Emory National Primate Research Center at Emory University is currently seeking a full-time Research Specialist to join our team. This is a Grant Funded/Limited Time opportunity to complete a project that has an anticipated end date of May 31, 2028.
Responsibilities
- Conduct immunological assays to measure innate and adaptive immune responses to infection in blood and lung tissue samples.
- Conduct immunology and microbiology experiments.
- Data analysis, quality assurance, maintaining laboratory environment and supplies.
- Participating in lab meetings and journal clubs.
- Record keeping.
- Assist with planning and scheduling research procedures.
- Record results of studies, compile and analyze data, and prepare charts and graphs.
- Review literature for related research, develop techniques, and compile findings.
- Analyze and interpret results of studies with support from the Principal Investigator (PI).
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a scientific field OR equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability and desire to learn new concepts and techniques efficiently.
- Previous experience with commonly used techniques in the lab is a benefit but not required: multi-parameter flow cytometry, cell culture, bacterial culturing, processing human blood samples or animal tissue, immunofluorescence microscopy, mouse work, proficiency with Microsoft Office, FlowJo, Prism, and R.
