About the role

Berwyn is seeking detail-oriented and analytical individuals to join our expanding team of Research Specialists. This is an entry-level position designed for individuals who are eager to develop professional research and investigative skills. Previous experience in genealogy, public records research, or mortality verification is not required. We provide training and support to help you succeed.

Responsibilities

  • Review obituaries, death notices, and public records to identify potential family relationships and heirs.
  • Research and verify mortality status using multiple data sources.
  • Analyze information from both traditional and non-traditional resources to establish family connections.
  • Investigate and reconcile conflicting information through careful research and critical thinking.
  • Maintain a high degree of accuracy while managing a fast-paced workload.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure timely and accurate results for clients.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Interest in history, genealogy, family lineage, or investigative research.
  • Enjoyment of solving puzzles and connecting pieces of information from multiple sources.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to think critically and draw conclusions from limited information.
  • Adaptability and a willingness to learn new research methods and tools.
  • Strong written comprehension skills and the ability to review large volumes of information efficiently.
  • Able to manage a high-volume caseload while maintaining quality standards.

Qualifications

  • Recent graduates and individuals with academic backgrounds in Business, History, English, Political Science, Journalism, Library Sciences, or related fields are encouraged to apply.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office products.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and research skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Pay

The base pay range for this role is $20.50 – 25.50/hour. Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity.

Schedule

This is a hybrid position requiring a minimum of one day per week (Wednesday) working from the Fort Washington, PA office. Other days can be worked remotely.
