RESEARCH SCIENTIST SPECIALIST
Position Summary
The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), IRCP Flow Cytometry and Single Cell Core Facility (FCSC), is recruiting a Research Scientist Specialist to join the core facility. The Research Scientist Specialist will perform single cell and spatial assays using technologies by 10X, BD, PARSE, Lunaphore and others.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Consultation with users for experimental design.
- Ordering appropriate reagents and kits.
- Performing molecular biology reactions and library preparation.
- Pooling samples for sequencing.
- Data transfer.
- Maintaining records of experiments.
- Troubleshooting.
- Preparing invoices and billing via the FBS system.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Doctorate degree in a related field and three (3) years of related experience OR
- Master's degree in a related field and five (5) years of related experience OR
- Bachelor's degree in a related field and seven (7) years of related experience required.
Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
Preferences
- Extensive experience with all aspects of quantitative molecular biology (single cell RNAseq, PCR, RT-PCR, sequencing, barcoding, hashing).
- Experience in molecular biology.
- Preferred degree in molecular biology or biological sciences.
Salary Range
$ 81,525- $ 105,980
