Research Scientist, Amazon Connect

About the role

Join a brand-new team building an AI system that will disrupt the industry. This role involves tackling ambiguity and working on hard problems in a fast-paced environment within Amazon Connect, a cloud-based contact center enabling businesses to deliver engaging, dynamic, and personal customer service experiences. You will leverage AWS services such as Lex, Polly, Lambda, S3, and Kinesis to create frustration-free and natural customer experiences, transforming how customers interact with businesses.

As a Research Scientist, you will find optimal combinatorial solutions to very large-scale scheduling problems, working closely with senior technical leaders within the team and across AWS. The team is in its early stages, offering significant impact on deliverables with no operational load from existing models or systems. This position provides a rare opportunity to shape technology and product in a fast-growing business and play a crucial role in developing the next generation of contact centers.

Responsibilities

• Investigate the feasibility of applying scientific principles and concepts to business problems and products.
• Analyze experimental and observational data sets.
• Develop optimal combinatorial solutions for large-scale scheduling problems.
• Collaborate with senior technical leaders within the team and across AWS.
• Design and deliver scalable, resilient systems with a constant customer focus.

Requirements

• PhD, or Master's degree and 4+ years of experience in a quantitative field.
• Experience investigating the application of scientific principles to business problems and products.
• Experience analyzing both experimental and observational data sets.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of R, MATLAB, Python, or similar scripting language.
• Experience with agile development.
• Experience building web-based dashboards using common frameworks.

Pay

Base salary range: $157,300.00 - $212,800.00 USD annually for roles in New York, NY.

Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
