Job Summary
The Research Project Manager leads the team and plans, develops, implements, manages, and reports on a research program. This position provides key administrative help by developing strategies to advance the research program. It ensures goals are met while complying with all rules, regulations, and funding constraints. Other duties include negotiating and monitoring project budgets, monitoring regulatory agencies, and assisting in writing proposals, grants, contracts, and budgets.
Essential Functions of the Role
- Writes and helps develop proposals, grants, contracts, and budgets for the department.
- Affords assistance in writing abstracts and manuscripts.
- Develops program budgets and ensures budget requirements are met.
- Reviews program-related contracts and approves invoices within the program budget.
- Implements and executes management conclusions.
- Prepares documents like brochures, case report forms, informed consent documents, and IND application components.
- Reviews new protocols and materials from the sponsor.
- Provides input to the Principal Investigator on clinical and research issues to establish financial and clinical feasibility.
- Serves as a program liaison with personnel involved in the program.
- Solves barriers to the advancement of the program's strategy.
- Fosters relationships with academia, pharmaceutical, and biotechnology industries.
- Maintains current relationships and establishes new ones with entities that can contribute to the program's priorities.
- Conducts audits of research studies to check the accuracy, integrity and consistency of research studies.
- Provide guidance to program team members.
- Interact regularly with the team to establish resource needs, coordinate activities, and identify deliverables and due dates.
- Ensure efficient communication and reporting of operational activities by program team members.
- Organizes and conducts team meetings to ensure adherence to goals, budget, and timelines.
- Provides program leadership through team management and evaluation.
Key Success Factors
- Proven written and oral communication skill.
- Proven leadership skills in project management techniques.
- Exceptional computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
- Ability to manage time-reactive projects.
- Knowledge of the beliefs and practices of developing, administering and implementing a clinical trial in compliance with sponsorship.
- Able to work autonomously and coordinate efficiently to meet program timelines.
- Work in a matrix organization, manage resources, and resolve problems.
- Think critically and efficiently to advance the program.
Qualifications
- EDUCATION - Masters' or Bachelors Degree plus 2 years of work experience above the minimum qualification
- EXPERIENCE - 4 Years of Experience
