About the role
This position is available in Roanoke, VA and involves managing a special Joint Venture (JV) long-term project. The work model is onsite, with a 40-hour work week and potential overtime. There is also a possibility of travel, consisting of day trips to multiple overnight stays in West Virginia, Virginia, and Maryland, with an estimated one week per month.
Responsibilities
- Manage, or assist in managing, base, intermediate, and/or complex projects
- Initiate, plan, execute, monitor, and control projects
- Develop and review project plans, budgets, tools, and staff
- Communicate project details and status updates
- Lead planning meetings and project/outage updates
- Support and hold employees and contractors accountable for the client System Safety Process
- Develop and manage procurement plans for necessary outside resources
- Manage, or assist in managing, contracts for outside services
- Conduct or assist in closeout processes
- Adhere to the guidance and standards put forth by the client Project Management Governance Committee
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, business, project management, or related field of study with 3 years qualified experience, or two-year Associate's degree in the same disciplines with 5 years of qualified experience
- Valid driver's license required
- Knowledge in construction safety, negotiations, scope development/control, cost estimating, construction contracting, project controls/reporting, and quality control are beneficial
- Experience in utilities or power systems
Qualifications
- Qualified experience includes outage management activities, business administration, major construction field experience, project estimating, controls, and engineering, and/or comparable experience in a competitive production environment
- Additional requirements include progressively assigning the PM lead role on a project for continued development, developing and providing effective leadership, team building and meeting management skills, and demonstrating the motivation and attitude to lead a team and a project to successful conclusion
