About the Role

Coordinates the day-to-day administration of assigned clinical research studies, requiring significant independent clinical judgment and assessment in utilizing research instruments. Responsibilities vary by study and may include:

  • Independently recruiting, screening, and enrolling study subjects
  • Scheduling subjects for visits and administering research instruments
  • Leading groups or providing training/education to participants
  • Ensuring subjects complete all study requirements
  • Designing and revising research forms and instruments
  • Collaborating with contacts within Sheppard Pratt and at other Baltimore-area patient program sites to recruit study subjects
  • Demonstrating an understanding of patients/individuals with serious mental illness in communications with study subjects
  • Recording and maintaining study data
  • Reporting relevant medical and clinical information to the principal investigator, nurse (if applicable), and other study investigators
  • Providing direction to Assistant Research Project Coordinator on a project-related basis

Requirements

  • Post-graduate experience in a research coordinator, research assistant, or equivalent position
  • Written and verbal communication skills and general knowledge of psychopathology of persons with serious mental illness
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Independent analytical ability to accurately utilize study rating scales and research instruments, design or revise research forms, and identify concerns for the study principal
  • Interpersonal skills to actively recruit study subjects, interact effectively with chronically mentally ill patients and program staff, and direct the work of non-exempt research staff (51-80% of work time)
  • Ability to concentrate and pay attention to detail in performing research tasks, with frequent (21-50% of work time) high levels of mental/visual fatigue

Pay for this position is determined by factors including years and level of related experience.
