About the role

Under the direction/guidance of a mentor (principal investigator), assumes responsibility for a specific, on-going research project in the Kurre Lab. The lab investigates the biology underlying genetic disorders of hematopoiesis, aiming for mechanistic insight that can lead to new therapies. This role will focus on developing and preclinically validating a new genome editing technique as part of a newly NIH-funded multi-investigator project.

The experience will extend, refine, and enhance skills necessary for professional and career development, enabling the individual to broaden their scientific background by acquiring new research capabilities. The position is embedded in a collaborative team effort with co-investigating labs, offering extensive opportunities to network and expand experimental skills. Career development is fostered through access to seminars, educational offerings at CHOP and Penn, grantsmanship, publication, and scientific presentation.

  • Conduct independent scholarly research and develop new methods and protocols
  • Participate in project planning, recording, and evaluation of data
  • Acquire technical, lab management, and manuscript/grant writing skills
  • Participate in seminars, lectures, poster sessions, and presentations at national meetings
  • Supervise junior lab members
  • Assist with other research projects in the lab

Requirements

  • Doctorate - Required
  • Direct experience in molecular biology and genome editing techniques
  • Strong preference for fluency in multiparameter flow cytometry and animal husbandry skills
  • Ability to wear a respirator device

Benefits

As a condition of employment, CHOP employees who work in patient care buildings or have patient-facing responsibilities must receive an annual influenza vaccine.

Pay

Salary range: $20,800.00 - $110,400.00 annually (full-time). If you're working part-time, your pay will be adjusted accordingly. For Research Post-Doctoral Fellow roles, refer to CHOP’s salary guidelines.
