RESEARCH PHARMACY TECHNICIAN - ONCOLOGY

The Research Pharmacy Technician will partner with and support the Pharmacist/Director of Investigational Drug Services and Oncology Research Site Operations in establishing and managing the Taylor Cancer Research Center's Investigational Drug Services. This role ensures compliance with FDA, ICH, and HHS regulations, as well as the program's Research Standard Operating Procedures. Responsibilities include investigational product accountability, dispensing, and sterile compounding of hazardous and non-hazardous drugs following USP 797 and 800 guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to regular work schedule and arrives on time.
• Follows USP 797 and 800 guidelines for compounding hazardous and non-hazardous investigational drug products in designated mixing rooms.
• Works closely with the research team to ensure accurate and safe preparation and delivery of investigational agents.
• Maintains cleanliness of mixing areas following USP guidelines.
• Collaborates with administrative staff to keep policies and procedures current and compliant with guidelines.
• Assists with maintaining drug inventory and ordering drugs as needed.
• Maintains accurate accountability of investigational drug products.
• Maintains cleanliness of the infusion room and prepares/submits orders for necessary supplies.
• Ensures patient confidentiality and handles personally identifiable healthcare information with care.
• Creates and maintains research pharmacy binders.
• Supports the research pharmacist in maintaining revenue tracking and developing treatment regimens.
• Develops and maintains educational resources for staff and patients.
• Assists in the creation of monthly invoices for the research team.
• Attends patient meetings and in-services to expand knowledge of oncology and research development.
• Stays current on USP 797/800 guidelines and maintains required certifications.
• May serve as the super-user for the computer system.

Requirements

• Licensure as a Certified Pharmacy Technician in the state of Ohio.
• Minimum of 3 years of sterile compounding experience.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to adapt to expanded roles and maintain quality control standards.
• Consistently arrives in professional attire and completes tasks within established time frames.
• Adheres to all clinic policies and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of professional regulations and practices for patient care.
• Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions.
• Knowledge of chemotherapy and biotherapy.
