Position Summary

The Research Ophthalmic Technician is primarily responsible for performing high-quality Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) imaging in accordance with study protocols, sponsor requirements, and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines. The ideal candidate has experience performing retinal imaging and enjoys working with research participants in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform high-quality OCT imaging according to study-specific protocols.
• Prepare participants for ophthalmic imaging procedures.
• Ensure all imaging meets sponsor quality standards prior to participant departure.
• Upload, label, and maintain imaging files in accordance with study requirements.
• Maintain and calibrate ophthalmic imaging equipment.
• Auxiliary investigators and clinical research staff during participant visits.
• Accurately document procedures and maintain source documentation.
• Ensure compliance with protocol requirements, GCP, HIPAA, and applicable regulatory standards.
• Communicate effectively with Clinical Research Coordinators regarding participant flow and scheduling.
• Participate in sponsor training as required.

Skills/Abilities

• Strong attention to detail and image quality.
• Excellent interpersonal and patient communication skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Education/Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1+ years as an Ophthalmic Technician, Ophthalmic Assistant, or Ophthalmic Photographer.
• Experience performing Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT).
• Previous experience in clinical research preferred.

Position Type
