RESEARCH OFFICER – ADR SUICIDE

About the role

The postholder will conduct quantitative research projects and data platform development related to suicide prevention. The position is part of the ADR Suicide Programme at Swansea University, led by Prof. Ann John. Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting research projects focused on mental health and suicide prevention.
  • Developing and maintaining data platforms for research purposes.
  • Collaborating with the SAIL Databank and NCMH cohort for accessing and analyzing large datasets.
  • Engaging in the translation of research findings into policy and practice.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Designing and executing quantitative research studies.
  • Managing and analyzing large datasets using SQL and programming languages like R, Stata, or Python.
  • Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure data integrity and ethical standards.
  • Presenting research findings at conferences and publishing in peer-reviewed journals.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • A relevant post-graduate degree in clinical epidemiology or health data science.
  • Experience in working with large relational databases through SQL.
  • Fluency in a programming language such as R, Stata, or Python.
  • Knowledge of routine big data analysis techniques.
