About the role
Sentara Heart Hospital, located on the campus of Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, is seeking a Registered Research Nurse. The Research Nurse manages and coordinates all aspects of conducting clinical trials, both clinically and administratively. Utilizes in-depth knowledge of protocol requirements to ensure that studies are properly conducted in conformance with the protocol guidelines, departmental standards, and good clinical practices set forth by federal regulations. Responsibilities include the sound conduct of the clinical trial, including recruitment, screening, enrollment, and follow-up of eligible subjects according to protocol requirements. Maintenance of accurate and complete documentation of related regulatory documents is required. Participates in writing, presenting, and publishing results of studies. As the primary resource for the protocols, acts as liaison between the Investigators, the institutional review board (IRB), and the Sponsor.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Virginia RN License or Virginia/Multi-State Compact eligibility
- BLS certification within 90 days of hire (required for all Direct Care RNs)
- Specialty certification as a Certified Clinical Research Professional (SOCRA CCRP or ACRP-CP) or Certified Clinical Research Coordinator (CCRC) required within 3 years of employment
- 2 years of nursing or research experience

About the workplace
Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is a 525-bed tertiary care facility and the only Level I Adult Trauma Center and burn trauma unit in Hampton Roads.
