About the role
The position seeks a dedicated post-doctoral researcher with expertise in lipid metabolism and neuroscience. The primary focus is on investigating the role of omega-3 fatty acid metabolism in brain health, particularly in relation to neurodegenerative diseases like Parkinson’s disease.
Responsibilities
- Design, execute, and analyze experiments related to neurological function and disease using molecular, cellular, biochemical, behavioral, and neuropathology approaches in mouse models and cell culture.
- Manage and oversee multiple research projects from planning through implementation, evaluation, and reporting.
- Collaborate with the Principal Investigator and interdisciplinary research teams to support basic and translational studies, including protocol development and neurological and metabolic data interpretation.
- Conduct advanced data analysis, including metabolomics, proteomics, and pathological analyses.
- Prepare manuscripts, research reports, conference presentations, and preliminary data for publications and future grant applications.
- Present findings at seminars, national meetings, and scientific conferences.
- Assist in grant and regulatory submissions, and provide scientific recommendations influencing study design and completion.
- Mentor and coordinate with laboratory personnel to ensure data quality, proper data organization, and effective presentation of research outcomes.
Requirements
- A doctoral degree in a relevant discipline such as biochemistry, neuroscience, metabolism, or physiology.
- Significant wet lab experience in lipid metabolism and neuroscience.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Qualifications
- Direct and significant experience in rodent behavioral assessment, neuropathology, transgenic mouse colony management, molecular biology (including western blotting, immunoprecipitation, proteomics), lipid biology and lipid metabolism, and/or combination therein.
- Experience with animal handling, surgeries, health monitoring, tissue collection, and adherence to approved IACUC protocols.
- Ability to conduct advanced data analysis, including metabolomics, proteomics, and pathological analyses.
- Strong mentorship and coordination skills with laboratory personnel.
Skills
- Expertise in lipid metabolism and neuroscience.
