Research Faculty (Open Rank) - Electron Magnetic Resonance (NHMFL)
Responsibilities
- Provide user support and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams of chemists, physicists, and engineers to integrate EPR findings into broader research projects.
- Design and conduct advanced EPR experiments (continuous-wave and pulsed) to investigate the structure and dynamics of paramagnetic systems.
- Maintain and enhance EPR instrumentation, in particular our 94 GHz high-power pulsed spectrometer (HiPER), ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
- Contribute to publications and conference presentations showcasing research results obtained in the EMR facility.
- Grow the EMR program by seeking funding sources and submitting external grant applications.
Qualifications
- PhD in Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science, or a related field.
- PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Postdoctoral experience.
- Hands-on experience with pulsed EPR spectroscopy.
- Proficiency in spectral analysis and simulation tools (e.g., EasySpin, MATLAB, Bruker Xepr).
- Strong understanding of spin physics, relaxation processes, and hyperfine interactions. Experience with bio-chemical/bio-physical applications.
- A collaborative mindset and the ability to communicate complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- A track record of scientific publications and conference presentations in the field of magnetic resonance.
