Research Faculty - Computational Psychiatry - Open Rank and Track

About the role

The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health is seeking several faculty members (open rank) to join our team and enhance our research mission in computational psychiatry. We aim to expand our departmental focus in computational psychiatry research, seeking clinically- or mechanistically-oriented researchers whose work involves statistical and/or computational approaches in one or more of the following areas:

• Understanding root causes (mechanisms) of mental health conditions
• Developing and evaluating tools for more accurate and rapid diagnosis
• Applying statistical knowledge to enhance understanding of mental health diseases and care
• Evaluating the effectiveness of mental health treatments using diverse clinical trial designs

Candidates may also have experience in quality improvement and/or evaluation projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong record of external research funding (or demonstrated capability to pursue such funding) and expertise in developing, leading, or contributing to education and research programs in computational psychiatry.

Faculty will join a multidisciplinary team of clinicians and scientists and be co-located with a growing group of physicians, psychologists, and researchers focused on psychosis, suicide, trauma, depression, addiction, and anxiety. Contributions to training, research, and other scholarly activities are expected. Current federal funding and research experience indicating the ability to secure consistent extramural funding are required.

Faculty Tracks

• Clinical Faculty (Assistant/Associate/Professor-Clinical): Requires an MD, PhD, or other terminal degree. Focus is on exemplary clinical care, with potential involvement in teaching and/or research. Appointments are non-tenure-track, with terms of three to five years, renewable.
• Tenure-Track Faculty (Assistant/Associate/Professor): Requires a PhD, MD, or other terminal degree. Primary focus is on research, service, and teaching. Tenure-track faculty with MD or MD/PhD degrees may also engage in clinical care.
• Research Faculty (Research Assistant/Associate/Professor): Requires a PhD or other terminal degree. Primary focus is research. Appointments are non-tenure-track, with terms of one to five years.
