Research & Evaluation Analyst
About the role
The Educational Partnership Center (EPC) at UC Santa Cruz seeks a Project Policy Analyst 3 to support strategic planning, decision making, and initiatives for EPC programs through data collection and analysis.
Responsibilities
- Support all EPC programs' reporting requirements, including maintaining data collection systems and processes, analysis, and assisting program directors on completing necessary reports.
- Manage annual reporting and methodology documentation, create agendas, organize projects, and ensure the team works together towards completion of projects.
- Share oversight responsibilities for Graduate Student Researcher (GSR) with the REI Director.
- Act as lead with database management system - working closely with vendors to build systems based on EPC needs, training staff, and setting up a system to ensure timely and accurate data input.
- Design and establish systems that manage, store and retrieve data for analysis to answer ad hoc informational requests and tracking of students and program objectives.
- Afford assistance across EPC in training development around data collection, monitoring, accuracy, and professional skills associated with reporting.
- Complete administrative and other tasks as necessary.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in education, policy, or related social science field, data science, or equivalent experience.
- Experience in critical analysis methodology.
- Sufficient experience in education policy, research, or a related field data organization and management to infer competency.
- General knowledge in data collection and analysis techniques and statistics or social science research techniques.
- Knowledge of organizational principles and procedures involved in handling sensitive data (for example, Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, or FERPA).
- Understanding of organizational rules and regulations.
- Well developed active listening and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to apply critical thinking skills to identify and solve problems and recommend effective resolutions.
- Able to provide good judgment, a critical eye to data review, decision-making, and problem solving.
- Strong ability to present information in a clear concise manner verbally and in writing.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in education, policy, or related social science field, or equivalent experience.
- Graduate degree in education, policy, or related social science field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience in managing grant reporting.
- Experience working with school districts and stakeholders.
Skills
- Fluency in data-analysis software such as Tableau, R, R-Studio, Python, Qualtrics, and/or Atlas.ti.
- Knowledge of organizational principles and procedures involved in handling sensitive data (for example, Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, or FERPA).
- Understanding of organizational rules and regulations.
- Well developed active listening and interpersonal skills.

Benefits
Salary commensurate with skills, qualifications and experience. Under California law, the University of California, Santa Cruz is required to post a reasonable estimate of the compensation for this role. The salary shown above is the budgeted amount the University reasonably expects to pay and the salary extended should not exceed this posted amount.
Pay
Budgeted Salary: $80,000 - $84,000/Annually.
Schedule
Full-time, FixedPercentage of Time: 100%, 40 Hours per Week.
