About the role
Conduct experimental and technical research to advance a novel catheter-based platform that enables the on-site fabrication of personalized heart implants for device-based stroke prevention.
Responsibilities
- Investigate system performance and underlying mechanisms
- Support translation from preclinical development to clinical application
- Collaborate closely with the Principal Investigator and an interdisciplinary team of engineers and clinicians
- Contribute across the full product development lifecycle—from experimental design and device prototyping to bench-top testing, characterization, and preclinical animal studies
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field, with at least two years’ experience in research or corporate R&D
- Expertise in 3D CAD design, rapid prototyping, bench-top simulator development, mechanical testing, sensor integration, data acquisition/analysis
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document technical work, present findings, and independently drive projects while coordinating key milestones
PREFERRED
- Experience evaluating implantable medical devices
- Knowledge of Class III medical device regulations and technical documentation
- Expertise in biomaterials, rheological characterization, and in vitro biocompatibility and hemocompatibility testing, such as cytotoxicity and coagulation readouts
