About the role
This position supports CDPH’s mission and strategic plan by performing routine analytical and data management activities for the Infectious Diseases Branch (IDB) Surveillance and Statistics Section (SSS). The Research Data Analyst I (RDA I) assists with the collection, compilation, entry, cleaning, and maintenance of infectious disease data using tools such as CalREDIE, Snowflake/i2D2, Excel, Access, CDC’s Secure Access Management Services (SAMS), and the Typhoid Carrier Registry.
The incumbent performs scheduled data quality checks, prepares standardized datasets, and supports basic statistical summaries and data reporting. They also assist with ongoing surveillance projects, including upgrades to registries and dashboards, following established procedures and guidance. The role operates under the general supervision of the Research Scientist Supervisor II (RSS II), Chief of the Surveillance and Statistics Section (SSS).
This position is subject to the Personal Leave Program (PLP) 2025, which temporarily reduces the monthly base pay by 3% in exchange for 5 hours of leave credits through June 2027. The salary ranges listed below do not reflect this reduction.
Responsibilities

Pay
- Range A: $4,469.00 - $5,079.00 per month
- Range B: $4,611.00 - $5,495.00 per month
- Range C: $5,529.00 - $6,922.00 per month
New state employees will be hired at the minimum salary of the classification or the minimum of the alternate range, where applicable.
Schedule
Permanent, full-time position with a hybrid telework arrangement in Sacramento County.
