About the Role

The Research Data Analyst conducts statistical analyses in support of a domestic HIV prevention research program conducted at three study sites, including randomized trials and related observational studies. Working under the direction of the lead study statistician, this position implements pre-specified statistical analysis plans in R, contributes to drafting those plans, and prepares tables, figures, and summary reports for study monitoring, manuscripts, and presentations. The role involves routine collaboration with site data managers and study staff on data deliveries and analytic requests.

Responsibilities

• Statistical Analysis (40%): Implement pre-specified analyses for randomized trials and related studies, including descriptive summaries, primary/secondary outcome analyses, and sensitivity analyses. Apply causal inference and machine learning estimators (e.g., TMLE) using specifications set by the lead statistician. Independently plan and run limited analyses and simulations for design or power questions.
• Analytic Dataset Construction (20%): Build, document, and maintain pooled analytic datasets from three site datasets, EHR, and administrative sources. Write reproducible derivation code and verify delivered data meets analytic requirements.
• Analysis Plans and Documentation (20%): Contribute to drafting statistical analysis plans, including data source descriptions, analytic population/outcome definitions, and table/figure shells. Maintain version-controlled code, data dictionaries, and analysis logs. Contribute analytic language to protocols and IRB submissions.
• Reporting and Publication Support (5%): Prepare monitoring reports, DSMB tables, and grant progress reports. Produce tables/figures for manuscripts, abstracts, and presentations. Run reviewer-requested analyses and assemble supplementary materials.
• Site Coordination and Data Requests (5%): Work with site data managers and study staff on data deliveries, variable questions, and analytic requests. Respond to enrollment, retention, and cohort description requests from co-investigators.
• Professional Development (5%): Participate in workshops, trainings, and other professional development activities. May contribute to committees or service projects.
• Other Duties (5%): Additional tasks as assigned.

Requirements

• Working knowledge of biostatistical principles and epidemiologic study designs (e.g., randomized controlled trials, observational studies, cohort studies, longitudinal analyses).
• Working knowledge of causal inference and machine learning methods (e.g., TMLE, propensity scores, inverse probability weighting) and their application in R.
• Proficiency in R for statistical analyses, including descriptive, primary, secondary, sensitivity, and simulation analyses per predefined plans.
• Ability to develop reproducible, well-documented analytic workflows and statistical code.
• Experience coordinating with multidisciplinary teams (investigators, statisticians, research staff) to support data requests and study deliverables.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality, comply with human subjects research regulations, and communicate findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Self-motivated, able to work independently and collaboratively, and meet deadlines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field and/or equivalent experience/training.
• Advanced degree in a related field (preferred).

Pay

The budgeted hourly range is $37.57–$44.89, with a full pay scale of $37.57–$66.83. This is a non-exempt, bi-weekly paid position.

Schedule

Full-time (40 hours/week), eligible for up to 5 days/week of remote work within the U.S. Exact arrangements determined with supervisor.
