Research Coordinator, Center Peacemaking

Job Requirements

The Research Coordinator, Center for Peacemaking leads and advances the Center for Peacemaking's academic working groups, faculty engagement initiatives, and research portfolio. The role guides collaborative scholarship, cultivates faculty participation, and drives the development of innovative programs that advance the Center's mission.

Serving as a key connector among faculty, students, community partners, and external collaborators, this position fosters meaningful partnerships and ensures that the Center generates high-impact research, thought leadership, and community-informed outcomes.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Lead Fundraising & Grant Development. Lead fundraising strategies to support the Center for Peacemaking's research initiatives. Identify, pursue, and secure external funding through grants, partnerships, and philanthropic support. Develop competitive grant proposals, steward funder relationships, and manage grant implementation to advance the Center's academic research priorities.
2. Manage Academic Research Initiatives. Provide leadership for the Center's academic working groups by supporting faculty chairs in advancing research priorities, facilitating collaboration, and ensuring progress toward defined goals and outcomes. Guide the development of calls for research, oversee the allocation and stewardship of research funds, and ensure completion of deliverables, including publications, events, and applied research output.
3. Advance Faculty & Student Research Engagement. Cultivate faculty and graduate student participation in peacemaking research and interdisciplinary scholarship. Develop systems and communications that strengthen engagement with Center initiatives, including research announcements, faculty networks, and student research opportunities. Maintain public-facing resources, including faculty directories, working group profiles, and research reports that highlight the Center's academic contributions.
4. Implement Communication & Storytelling Strategy. Develop and implement strategic communications that elevate the impact of the Center's academic research initiatives. Produce and disseminate content across web, print, podcast, and media platforms that highlight research outcomes and thought leadership in peacemaking. Represent the Center at professional conferences and gatherings.
5. Lead Academic and Public Events. Plan and coordinate faculty gatherings, interdisciplinary research convenings, and Center-sponsored events that foster visibility for peacemaking scholarship. Provide operational support for conferences, public talks, and interdisciplinary seminars.
6. Financial Activities. Establish, approve, and monitor budgets for each academic working group to ensure fiscal responsibility and alignment with the Center's strategic priorities.
7. Supervision. Supervise student employees, which includes but is not limited to hiring, training, disciplinary actions, ending the student's assignment, etc.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Bachelor’s degree in Peace Studies, Social Sciences, Humanities
• A minimum of four years of experience
• Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills
• Demonstrated success in fundraising, grant writing, and research support
• Commitment to nonviolence, social justice, and interdisciplinary collaboration

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Master’s degree in Peace Studies, Social Sciences, Humanities
• Terminal Degree strongly preferred or master’s degree with significant experience
• Experience in higher education, nonprofit, or research administration
