Research Billing Analyst

About the role

The Research Billing Analyst manages the end-to-end research billing lifecycle and provides financial oversight of research-related activities. The role is responsible for ensuring research charges are accurately identified, documented, reconciled, and billed in accordance with approved study budgets, financial agreements, and organizational requirements. The analyst collaborates with research teams, affiliates, finance, and clinical departments to resolve billing discrepancies, analyze financial trends, support audits, and identify opportunities to improve billing accuracy, revenue capture, and operational efficiency throughout the lifecycle of a research study.

Responsibilities

• Ensure research charges are accurately identified, documented, reconciled, and billed in accordance with approved study budgets, financial agreements, and organizational requirements.
• Manage research billing and accounts receivable processes.
• Oversee revenue recovery and financial reporting related to research activities.
• Perform reconciliation and monitor billing processes and controls.
• Collaborate with research teams, affiliates, finance, and clinical departments to resolve billing discrepancies.
• Analyze financial trends and support audits.
• Identify opportunities to improve billing accuracy, revenue capture, and operational efficiency.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Healthcare Administration or related field.
• Four (4) years of work experience in clinical research, clinical trial finance, and/or grant management (may substitute for bachelor’s degree).
• Certified Research Administrator through Research Administrators Certification Council (preferred).

Skills

• Proficiency in MS Excel and MS Word.
• Strong analytical abilities.
• Excellent written and reporting communication skills.
