About the Role

The Research Associate (Level A) contributes to UNSW’s research excellence through the development of innovative molecular devices based on singlet fission, an emerging photophysical process with the potential to enhance solar-energy conversion and advance optoelectronic technologies. The role focuses on developing advanced spin-physics models and applying magnetic-field-dependent spectroscopy techniques to investigate, quantify, and control the spin dynamics underpinning singlet fission, contributing directly to A/Prof. Murad Tayebjee’s ARC Future Fellowship research.

Responsibilities

  • Undertake theoretical and experimental research in collaboration with researchers and academic colleagues.
  • Analyze and interpret complex data related to singlet fission and spin dynamics.
  • Contribute to the development of design principles for efficient singlet fission materials and devices.
  • Disseminate research findings through scholarly publications, conferences, and workshops.
  • Provide technical and theoretical guidance to PhD students.
  • Support the broader research activities of the group.

Requirements

  • Experience modelling the spin physics of triplet excitons.
  • Experience working with magnetic field dependent imaging and modulated magnetic field spectroscopy techniques.
  • Experience working in a multidisciplinary team of physicists, chemists, and engineers.
  • A PhD in a related discipline, and/or relevant work experience.
  • Proven commitment to proactively keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments.
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake high-quality academic research and conduct independent research with limited supervision.
  • Demonstrated track record of publications and conference presentations relative to opportunity.
