Research Associate position, Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism
About the role
The Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism in the Department of Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for a Research Associate position in the Academic Support Staff. The appointment is initially for one (1) year, with continuation and renewal based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding, limited to a maximum of three (3) years. The position offers the opportunity to develop advanced expertise in metabolic disease research, genomic and epigenomic data analysis, circadian biology, and nuclear receptor signaling, and provides training and mentorship in experimental design, data interpretation, scientific communication, and collaborative research to support long-term career development in academic biomedical research.
Responsibilities
- Conduct independent and collaborative research on the role of nuclear receptors (PPARα and HNF4α) in hepatic lipid metabolism and metabolic disease.
- Analyze epigenomic and transcriptomic datasets from genetically engineered mouse models.
- Investigate mechanisms underlying circadian regulation in the liver and the role of the hepatic vagus nerve in maintaining circadian rhythms.
- Contribute to experimental design, data interpretation, manuscript preparation, and presentation of research findings.
- Collaborate with laboratory members on related research projects.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Ph.D. degree required.
- Expertise in nuclear receptor signaling (PPARα and HNF4α), hepatic lipid metabolism, genetic regulation of metabolism, circadian biology, epigenetic and transcriptomic data analysis, and metabolic disease research using genetically engineered mouse models and advanced genomic approaches.
