About the role
BioLegend is seeking a Research Associate to join the Exploratory R&D team. The Research Associate will be involved in new cell culture reagent product development and supporting existing products. Key responsibilities include determining the feasibility and launching of new products through establishing/executing optimized cell culture models, collaborating with manufacturing/quality control teams for tech. transfers, and troubleshooting issues associated with existing products. This role requires mammalian cell culture experience while knowledge of process development for reagents such as small- & large-scale antibody production is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Design the experiment together with the supervisor scientists
- Conduct experiments and analyze results independently
- Lead assigned laboratory activities such as training, ordering supplies, and keeping inventories updated
- Create SOPs and other documentation relevant to product development
- Troubleshoot cell-based assays
- Perform relevant primary and cell line culture
- Quantify and characterize antibodies by multiple techniques (SDS-PAGE, ELISA, flow cytometry, and others)
- Troubleshoot and conduct process improvements on cell culture
- Perform ISO-compliant documentation
- Work independently as well as part of a team
- Capable of multi-tasking and working in a fast-paced goal-driven environment
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with teams including R&D, Product Development, Manufacturing, and Quality Control
Requirements
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and accuracy while maintaining good documentation practices and generating reports
- Proficiency in computer software use (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
Qualifications
- B. S. or M.S. in Biology, Immunology or another related field
- 2 years of relevant experience working in an academic or industry laboratory
- 1-2+ years of cell culturing experience
- 1-2+ years of experience with SDS-PAGE, ELISA, and/or flow cytometry
- Experience culturing and handling primary cells such as PBMCs and adult stem/progenitor cells
- Experience in cell-based assays
- Experience in development or characterization of antibodies (Ig quantification, flow cytometry, etc.)
