About the role
The Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Virginia seeks a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work in the lab of Craig H. Meyer, PhD, Professor of Biomedical Engineering.
Responsibilities
- Developing new MRI methods, including pulse sequences, and image reconstruction techniques
- Improving the spatial resolution and image contrast of structural lung proton MRI using efficient spiral sampling and neural networks for denoising, motion compensation, and data analysis
- Developing strategies to improve the spatial resolution and image contrast of structural lung proton MRI using spin-echo-train pulse sequences, possibly including efficient spiral sampling
- Characterizing physical properties of hyperpolarized xenon for lung imaging at 0.55T
- Optimizing methodology for hyperpolarized xenon imaging of xenon dissolved in the membrane and red blood cell compartments of the lung
- Publishing research results in peer-reviewed journals and grant reports

Minimum Qualifications:
- Doctoral degree
Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with low-field MRI and hyperpolarized xenon imaging
- Knowledge of pulse sequence design and image reconstruction techniques
- Experience with machine learning and neural networks
Skills

- Strong programming skills (Python, MATLAB, etc.)
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Benefits
Commensurate with experience, up to $68,000 annually, plus benefits.
Pay
$62,000 - $68,000 annually
