Research Associate - Biotechnology

About the role

Oppenheimer & Co. Inc., a leading mid-tier investment bank, is currently seeking a Research Associate to join our Biotechnology equity research team. The position is located in New York City.

Responsibilities

• Work directly with the Senior Research Analyst on many aspects of the research process including building and maintaining financial models and market trackers
• Perform fundamental analysis and due diligence on biotechnology companies
• Write investment-driven research reports
• Develop and field industry surveys
• Attend medical and scientific conferences
• Undertake a wide array of industry analyses and competitive assessments

Requirements

• Independently motivated, analytically-minded, and intellectually curious
• One to two years of experience in equity research or a related field with financial modeling and exposure to the equity markets
• Demonstrable interest in drug development, and a passion for life sciences investing
• Attention to detail, strong work ethic, ability to multi-task, and excellent written communication skills

Qualifications

• A MS in biology or similar field is required
• An advanced degree (PhD/MD/MBA, etc.) is preferred

• A passion for the biotechnology sector, stock market and equity research

Pay

A reasonable estimate of the current base salary range is $100,000.00 - $150,000.00 at the time of this posting. Also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation such as discretionary bonus.
