Duties & Responsibilities
Under supervision and detailed instructions, utilize software and theoretical tools to facilitate research activities, including data cleaning and coding, algorithm testing and optimization, and statistical analysis.
Following outlined procedures, help with research data preparation, analysis, and evaluation; assist in processes for developing forward modeling; contribute to the evaluation of data analysis methods and results; maintain data records; participate in research group meetings regularly and present preliminary results of analysis.
Assist with the preparation of data and plots for the submission of scientific publications, such as manuscripts and conference proceedings, in collaboration with other researchers of the research group.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience with high-contrast imaging techniques, particularly in the direct imaging of protoplanetary disks and planetary companions around stellar systems.
- Direct research experience in observational astronomy and/or theoretical astrophysics, including hands-on involvement in the reduction and analysis of data from ground- or space-based observatories.
- Experience with scripting and programming languages (e.g., Python, IDL) and familiarity with common astronomical data formats, reduction tools, and software frameworks.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is required.
- Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.
