About the role

This part-time Research Assistant position supports experimental studies and data analytics in the Reddy Lab, focusing on brain disease models and behavioral patterns. The role involves assisting senior research staff with advancing experimental studies, data analysis, records, and neural techniques. This position is grant-funded; future employment may be contingent upon future funding.

Responsibilities

• Assist and conduct brain research using pharmacological methods and techniques, carrying out procedures, and recording results in the lab.
• Perform experimental procedures involving brain disease models, behavior, and signal recording.
• Assist with neuroscience electrophysiological analysis studies and technical operations relevant to pharmacology and PK studies.
• Prepare databases of neural observations and EEG recordings.
• Assist and edit scientific manuscripts.
• Coordinate work progress with campus and external collaborators.
• Manage lab compliance and materials for research projects.
• Order and maintain scientific supplies and equipment.
• Prepare and maintain lab records and inventories.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in biological or biomedical sciences or neuroscience.
• Knowledge of computers and software related to the position.
• Experience in animal care.
• Ability to assist senior researchers with brain paradigms and data collection.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret EEG recordings and behavior tests.
• Experience organizing, conducting, and reporting pharmacological studies and experiments.
• Experience working with EEG studies, data compilation, and analysis.
• Ability to read temporo-spatial progression of seizures and behavioral patterns.
• Ability to support research staff with advancing experimental studies and neural techniques.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of laboratory equipment, scientific apparatus, and computer equipment.

Skills

• Knowledge of laboratory maintenance and equipment.
• Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
• Strong attention to detail.

Schedule

Part-time position located in Bryan, TX. May require working on weekends and/or after normal hours.
